The restaurant is quite small with only 5 tables and offers a simple menu that is a little more expensive than usual. It has a good reputation and is ranked quite highly among soba shops in this area.
I ordered a platter of seasonal vegetables for two including some wild or forest vegetables gathered in the mountains. On the back of the menu the chef has written details about the ingredients he uses in the dishes including the soy sauce which is apparently the best in Japan.
The vegetable platter had a subtle flavor and included tomato, sweet potato, yam paste as well as forest or mountain vegetable. We also had ‘tsukemono’ or Japanese pickles which were cucumber, carrot and white radish that also had a subtle and not overly salty flavor.
In conclusion I would have say that while the soba was good there are many better soba restaurants around for you to try.
